St Ives Beach

You are surrounded by some of the country’s most beautiful beaches….here is a list of the local beaches, you are spoilt for choice!

Porthmeor

Popular surfing beach, recently received the blue flag award. North facing and overlooked by The Tate Gallery with a wide expanse of soft golden sand. Facilities include toilets, eat in and take away café, close to shops and restaurants in St Ives.

Porthminster

Another beach to receive a blue flag award, in a sheltered position with views across St Ives Bay to Godrevy lighthouse. It’s typically calm waters make it popular with families. Facilities include toilets, take away café and the fantastic Porthminster Beach Café.

Porthgwidden

Popular with families as it is very sheltered. East facing with soft golden sand. Facilities include toilets, eat in and take away café.

Bamaluz

The smallest beach in St Ives! Located nearest to the cottage, just down the steps from the walkway to the parking space. This is the only beach in St Ives without dog restrictions, dogs are allowed all year round.

Porth Kidney

A most spectacular large beach favoured by parasurfers and paragliders! With a fantastic walk from St Uny church, along the beach and back along the coastal path to Carbis Bay and St Ives. Not suitable for families as there are no facilities and swimming is not recommended due to dangerous currents.

Carbis Bay

A good safe family holiday beach with excellent sands. North facing and surrounded by hills for good protection. Facilities include parking (although busy and expensive in season!), toilets, take away café and The Carbis Bay Hotel which has a restaurant and bar open to non-residents.

Gwithian

At low tide there is a vast amount of sand and plenty of room with large areas of rock pools. It is a 5 minute walk to the beach from the car park. There is a lovely café in the car park.
